22 Ways to Raise Your Kid(s) to Love the Lord
The child(ren) come … and we look gazenly into their eyes wanting nothing but to provide the best for them and if we could we would give them the world, BUT we cannot, so instead we plan to do better by raising them to come to know and to love the Lord. We know the road ahead is not going to be an easy task but we know that it is going to be worth it. I invite you now to explore with me 22 ways to raise your kids to know and to love the Lord.
- It is okay to still be fleshing out your faith…even when the child(ren) come. Ask yourself am I living a happy and honest life? If you answered yes to both questions know that your child(ren) will be pleased by that.
- Give your children the real and genuine you.
- Establish a personal relationship with the Lord that surpasses going to church on Christmas and Easter.
- Show your children your inner faith and your commitment to christianity (and that does not mean going to church or being overtly religious).
- Choose today to discern that your life’s goals will be to be more concerned with your direction than it is to be concerned with being faultless.
- Strive daily to help your child to see the beauty in things and situations that are ugly.
- If you need direction, strength, courage, etc. start and end everyday on your knees in prayer.
- Pray a prayer that is not rehersed and that is truthful.
- Live out the principles of the Bible through your daily walk.
- Commit scripture to memory and teach it to your child(ren).
- Teach your child(ren) about truths (biblical/life) truths that will enable them to weather the storms.
- Be an example of light and discipline.
- Keep your physical, spiritual, and emotional cup full always.
- Be intentional
- Raising children who love the Lord is largely due to the factor that a father/father figure presence and participation are both positive.
- How are you a good father do you ask? Its simple you see all you have to do is be a good partner/husband.
- Give your child(ren) the gift of experiences rather than materialistic things that will trend away.
- Surround your children with the village and the spirit of Ubuntu, where “I am, because of you” (blog.ted.com)
- Hold and teach your child(ren) to hold on tight to the spiritual world. Hold on tight to the spiritual world and hold on loosely to the worldly world.
- Be concerned with meeting the needs that surround you.
- Remember it is God’s grace and mercy that we should depend on . It will be the very thing that enables us the weather any and I mean any storm.
- Make it a family goal to be the family that He or She 🙂 wants you to be.
